The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced the draw on Saturday, August 8, with the tournament scheduled to take place in China from September 22 to 27, 2026.

RSSB Tigers will compete in Group A alongside Rytas Vilnius of Lithuania, representing Europe, and Shanghai Sharks of China, representing Asia.

The Rwandan side earned its place in the competition after winning the 2026 BAL title in Kigali, becoming the first Rwandan team to win the continental championship.

In Group B, Chinese side Beijing Royal Fighters will face Boca Juniors of Argentina, representing South America, and NBA G League United, a team made up of selected players from the NBA G League that will represent the United States.

RSSB Tigers will open their Intercontinental Cup campaign against Rytas Vilnius on September 22.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the tournament bringing together champions and leading clubs from basketball leagues across the world's major regions.

The competition will give RSSB Tigers an opportunity to test themselves against clubs from Europe and Asia after their historic BAL triumph.
