Rwanda receives bodies of two nationals killed in Uganda

The Government of Uganda has handed over to Rwanda bodies of two men who were recently killed in the country.

The deceased include Theoneste Dusabimana, 52, hailing from Rubaya sector and Paul Bangirana, 47, from Kaniga sector. They were respectively killed on 30th August and 1st September 2021.

It is said that murderers dispossessed them of their valuables before killing them in Kabale district.

Having arrived through Gatuna border, the bodies were received by the mayor of Gicumbi district, Felix Ndayambaje and relatives while Uganda was represented by the mayor of Kabale district, Nelson Nshangabasheija.

Bangirana used to be hired in the neighboring Uganda to burn charcoals almost every day. On 1st September 2021, he crossed for the same job but never returned.

The following day, his family was informed that Bangirana was killed in Uganda.

Before killing him, murderers stole his belongings including money.

On another note, Dusabimana who worked at a tea factory in Uganda was killed heading to Rwanda. He was murdered in Katuna after withdrawing money to return home because he had reached retirement age. The suspects are still at large.

John Kanimba, the elder brother of Dusasabimana appealed for justice and urged Rwandans to stop crossing to the country.

The mayor of Gicumbi district, Ndayambaje also advised residents against crossing into Uganda because their security is not guaranteed.

The bodies were taken to Kacyiru Hospital for postmortem.
