The delegation arrived at the Rusumo One Stop Border on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 12th. Leading the delegation is Governor Fatma Abubakar Mwassa of Kagera Province, accompanied by local leaders, security officials, and representatives from the private sector.
Governor Emmanuel Gasana of the Eastern Province expressed that this visit reciprocates a prior visit by Rwandan leaders to Tanzania in February. During that visit, both parties established seven resolutions, including commitments to enhance security cooperation and information exchange.
"They visited us to jointly evaluate the progress of these resolutions, as our countries are committed to improving performance and cooperation for the betterment of our citizens’ development. Thus, their visit to Rwanda is crucial for them to learn from our best practices and vice versa," he emphasized.
Gasana added that during their stay, the delegation will explore trade opportunities in Rwanda and gain insights into various aspects of national development. The visiting delegation is expected to engage in discussions with Eastern Province officials to further promote cooperation and security between the two provinces.
Among the noteworthy projects on their itinerary is the Nasho Irrigation Project and Gabiro Agribusiness Hub.
