Tour du Rwanda 2021: Alan Boileau wins stage 5, Eyob takes yellow jersey

French national, Alan Boileau, 21, riding for B&B Hotels has won the 5th stage of Tour du Rwanda 2021 that saw racers covering 149.3 kilometers from Nyagatare to Kimironko in Kigali.

He won the stage clocking 3 hours, 28 minutes, 45 seconds. Boileau also won the 2nd and 3rd stages of this year’s edition.

Eritrean Eyob Metkel has taken the yellow jersey from Colombian Sánchez Vergara Brayan.

Byukusenge Patrick from Benediction Ignite is the top performing Rwandan at stage 5 becoming 20th followed by his teammate Manizabayo Eric ‘Karadiyo’ (21), Uhiriwe Byiza Renus (23, Team Rwanda) and Habimana Jean Eric (25) of SACA.

On the general classification, Muhoza Eric is the top performing Rwandan coming 28th followed by Nsengimana Jean Bosco (30), Manizabayo Eric (31), Nsengiyumva Shemu (35), Gahemba Barnabé (36) and Mugisha Samuel (40).

Tour du Rwanda 2021 will continue on Friday 7th May with riders setting off from Kigali heading to Rulindo and Gicumbi and return to Kigali covering the total distance of 152,6 kilometers.

Classified under UCI 2.1 category, the 13th edition of Tour du Rwanda runs from 2nd to 9th May 2021.
