Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) has revealed that Volcano Express has been added to existing public transport companies operating in Kigali.

The decision announced through a statement released by RURA on Sunday 7th August 2022 is part of ongoing efforts to address transport problems in the city.

Volcano joins other public transport companies licensed to operate in Kigali City since 2013. These include Royal Express, KBS and RFTC.

According to the statement, Volcano will operate in the following routes effective from 8th August 2022:

Remera Bus Terminal - Town

Remera Bus Terminal - Special Economic Zone (Masoro)

Remera Bus Terminal - Bwerankori

Remera Bus Terminal - Nyabugogo

Remera Bus Terminal- Busanza

Rubilizi Bus Terminal- Nyabugogo

Volcano has been transporting passengers upcountry particularly to districts of Southern Province including Muhanga, Nyanza and Huye.

RURA takes the decision following complaints of passengers using public transport who decried poor services over long queues and delays of buses.

Kigali City says that the issue emanates from the shortage of public buses.

Volcano has a fleet of vehicles carrying passengers to different destinations in Southern Province.
