SKOL Brewery Ltd since its start has been preoccupied by the waste treatment and undertaken measures to protect the nature. It invested in a water treatment plant that treats its wastewater so well that after it is used for other activities like sprinkling its football pitch; this plant also recuperates biogas used to heat the water used for brewing. On another hand CO₂ is recuperated and used for products carbonation. SKOL also privileges returnable glass bottles for the packaging of its finished goods.
The Brewery has put in place and funded development programs that benefit both its employees and the community. To name a few; SKOL has partnerships with local produces, it uses local materials like rice in its brewing process and other activities whenever it gets the opportunity to do so.
SKOL just concluded this year a 3 years’ community development program aimed at fighting poverty and enabling around 450 people to acquire socio-economic autonomy that it was funding. SKOL also every year supports the community around the Brewery and countrywide through different ways, it provides health care support to vulnerable families and uniforms to students; offers work opportunities being permanent or temporary; built playing grounds for UTAB university and has a partnership with the university to fund a 6 months’ internship program for best performing students; and more.
It financially contributes on a yearly basis to its employees’ cooperative that was created to support their economic development and has installed an interesting package that is not common in other companies.
SKOL Brewery Ltd is in Rwanda not only to provide Pleasure and Perfect products to its consumers, and gain profits but also to contribute in People’s development, wellbeing of its employees and the Rwandan community in general.
