Since its establishment in Rwanda, SKOL has committed to supporting various sports and entertainment activities that not only offer an opportunity to SKOL brand lovers to relax and have fun with their friends but also contribute to the country development.
SKOL Brewery Ltd is a major sponsor of Tour du Rwanda, a famous road cycling race on the continent since more than 9 years now. This is part of SKOL’s love for the cycling, will and commitment to develop cycling in general in Rwanda. Hence its support to the Rwanda Cycling Cup and sponsorship to Fly Cycling Club Kigali and SACA, a continental team with the aim to develop Rwandan riders’ competencies to help them gloss on the international cycling scene as well as give them an opportunity to live from their talent. Since July 2018, SKOL has also been funding young Rwandan riders to train and race in Belgium for a month.
The Brewery also entered into sponsorship with Rayon Sports Football Club, the biggest and famous football club in Rwanda since 2014. The sponsorship has not only been in cash but also in kind, as SKOL built a football pitch that meets FIFA standards for the club to train and host matches. And SKOL together with the club’s fans launched the monthly and annual players awards to recognise the best performing players. A fan promotion was also introduced under the name “Gikundiro promotion” whereby fans have a chance to win prizes such as tickets to accompany their team in a match held outside the country, full season tickets, and many more.
SKOL Brewery Ltd does not only sponsor sports, it has organized and sponsored different entertainment activities including the Tekno concert in 2017 organized together with Positive Production; Celebrities Christmas Party organized by The Mane in 2018 that intended to connect Rwandan celebrities and fans, socializing and wishing them a Merry Christmas; the SKOL World Cup Village, where football lovers were able to follow the 2018 world cup matches from an outdoor giant screen and enjoy different fun activities; Kigali Convention Center SKOL New Year’s village in 2018 where concerts by Rwandan and International artists were held for four consecutive days; Caravane du Rire, a comedian show that brought in French and English speaking comedians from the continent including Michel Gohou organized with Comedy Knights in 2019; the ROC NYE concert which brought together the top DJs for the 2020 New Year celebration, the annual Tour du Rwanda Concerts that bring together various sportsmen and artists; to name a few.
