According to the Office of the President, during the talks on Thursday, the two leaders reaffirmed the strong and longstanding relations between Rwanda and Congo-Brazzaville and exchanged views on challenges facing the African continent.

They also discussed the need to advance effective and sustainable solutions led by African countries.

The meeting came as the two countries continue to strengthen diplomatic and political relations and cooperation across several areas.

Rwanda opened its embassy in Congo-Brazzaville in August 2016, further formalising diplomatic engagement between the two countries.

In November 2021, Rwanda and Congo-Brazzaville signed a series of agreements covering military cooperation, collaboration in improving teaching and learning at universities, land management, sustainable development and environmental protection.

The agreements also covered the promotion of bilateral trade and expansion of cooperation in air transport development.
